Pentax Photo Gallery Approval time

Hello Folks,
Not sure if this is the right section to post this question but thought I might as well.
I had submitted a number of pictures to the Pentax Photo Gallery, most of these were rejected, however there are a couple of them which still show in submitted state inspite of them being there for over a month.
I am assuming these have moved to the next stage but I am not sure. Any ideas on the timeframes Pentax takes to approve the pictures.
Also, once these are approved do they show up in a separate section on 'My Photos' Page.
Thanks for your inputs as always

KP

G'day KP.
PPG tends to reject the ones they don't like early, and keep the ones they do like for users voting to occur on the photos, which can hold up the approval of the photos for a while. I've had photos approved within a couple of days, and some after a couple of weeks of posting - never for over a month. But I'm pretty sure that it's just waiting for a certain number of votes to get through...

KP,
All the ones I had accepted were sitting in the queue for a long time. I wasn't keeping close track, but I think it took about a month. All of them were submitted around early July, FWIW.

Good luck with your photos!

There really is no 'standard" timeline in the PPG right now. There are 2 parts of the process, the membership vote and the Pentax vote.

Basically if you get sufficient YES votes in the membership vote, then your image goes forward to the Pentax judges. If you get a certain number of NO votes in the membership vote then your image is rejected and the Pentax judges never even see it.

See https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/144256-post11.html. (See the post, https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/general-talk/17104-pentaxphotogallery-com.html for the full thread.)

This means it takes 25 NO votes out of a possible 40 total votes gets a photo rejected. Of course if the first 25 votes are NO then the photo will be rejected at that point. If the first 24 are NO and the next 15 are YES and the 40th vote is NO it still gets rejected. You can, however, think of it another way, if the photo gets 16 quick YES votes during the peer review it goes straight up to the official Pentax judges. Once it gets there they have their way with it and depending on how busy they are it could take several weeks to make a final decision. They've been pretty mum on their criteria and have also been rather "uneven" in their judging but what are ya gonna do...

Another thing to watch is the "vertical" size of your photo. If it is under 600 pixels, the photo is rejected very quickly. I size mine at 603 vertical pixels just to be sure (even though they are downsized to 600px by the site itself).

Best of Luck,

Mike

A good guideline is "forever and a day".

I was glad to find this thread since I've been wondering the same thing. I submitted two photos - the first of which has been "Ready For Review" for about a month.

I'd love to get something approved on PPG!
