With a little practice Pentax Photo Lab does an excellent job of RAW conversion. In addition you can do quite a variety of adjustments to the photo using it, especially while converting from RAW.

You can get Photoshop Elements instead of Photoshop CS. With Elements, you can almost do everything Photoshop CS does at around $100.00. You can also get Corel Paint Shop Pro for around the same $100.00.

lightroom 2.4 is the way to go IMHO.

It is more limited then Photo shop but a lot easier to learn.

There is also FREE GIMP open source if interested. www.gimp.org

If you see a thread that you think should be made a sticky, either start a thread in Site Suggestions... or PM a moderator.

No problem!
I read it some time ago when it was first posted and had actually benefited from it that is why I'm sharing it with those ones that wasn't able to catch it the first time.
I now have Paint.net and gimp and lightbox free and of course my usual Photoshop.
For quick PP, I use lightbox and for heavy and non-retouched looked images, I use Photoshop.
Glad to be of help!
