If you haven't got the choice between the Pentax kit lens (which isn't much more expensive than the Sigma modell) and thr Sigma low-cost version, it is a bummer - but sure not Sigma's fault, but the dealer's.
You can buy the Pentax kit lens any time cheaply via ebay. It may be worth the small money, as it is quite a good lens, considering, that it is so cheap. Another option would be the older Pentax 16-45/4, which offers a noticeable bit more wide-angle and is very nice indeed and quite cheap now.
