Do you leave your tripod Quick Release Plate screwed in to your camera?

I've always left the quick-release plate screwed into my camera, but it's kind of annoying, since the camera won't sit flat now.

Do you only attach it on-demand or leave it on all the time?

It's very rare for me to remove my quick release plate for my tripod. I hate screwing and unscrewing it every time. It only doesn't sit flat when I remove the hood. I usually keep it on and it sits on the release plate and the lens hood to even out the surface.

I use a monopod with a Trek mag mount and the camera part stays on the camera all the time. It's not very big and doesn't interfere. If I took it off, I would probably loose it.

If you have to screw it on every time you want to use it, then it's not very quick, is it? ;-)

I know what your saying though. I keep it on when travelling with a tripod or camera support, take it off when I'm not.

hehe...yeah, i'll prob just leave it on. Definitely would reduce the effectiveness of "quick-release"!

Thanks for the replies.

I don't use the tripod often so unless I'm 'podding' then it's off.

My quick release plate is not normally on the camera - it's on the 400 where it is of the most use.

It was the first thing I took off my old camera and put on my new one, and hasn't left it since, since I'm one of these dumb schmucks who carries a tripod about everywhere.

I use to leave it on one of my cameras. It just always seemed that I had the wrong camera at the right time. Now I leave it on the tripod when I am not using said tripod. If I am out for a day of shooting with the tripod then it's on the camera even if I am not using the tripod for shots at that particular time.
