m42 shake reduction

I've been trying for about 30 minutes to find a post about this. I'm sure someone has already addressed the issue.
My question is; can I get shake reduction to work with my m42 lenses?
The option to input focal length is greyed out in the menu options. I guess this means my k20D doesn't recognize that there is a lens mounted?
The lenses work fine, I just can't get shake reduction on. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm assuming you have 'Aperture Ring Permitted' in the Custom Menu.
Mount the lens with the camera tuned off. When you turn on the camera you should have the 'Input Focal Length' screen on the rear LCD. If you haven't, check to make sure you have got the SR switch on the rear of the camera set to 'On'.

If the camera's mount contacts are not all shorted out by the lens base, the camera does not recognize that you have a manual aperture lens mounted. I bet that if you look with the lens mounted, the mount contacts are not shorted out by the lens base. This also can happen with a lens with a painted mount.

Carefully cut a bit of aluminium foil in a curve to cover the contacts on the camera mount and while not showing in the mount "hole" be under the lens to hold it in place. That should get your Shake Reduction back.
