Pentax KM [ K2000 unable the change shoot mode

My brothers camera will not enable him to change from single mode to continuous mode. The camera shows continuous mode as greyed out. I have run him through it over the phone on the back click on the 4 way controller in capture mode but the option for continuous mode is greyed out.

Anyone have any idea what the issue is?

Thanks

Dunno mate, I just checked mine and the option is available in all modes, I couldn't find one that greyed it out. I even tried taking the memory card out and it still allowed me to select it.
Did he try fresh batteries? That's the only thing I can think of.

OK, I picked up my K2000 to see what was the deal. At first, I thought you might be talking about the drive mode of continuous shooting (hi / lo). Like brit, this didn't 'gray out' on my K2000 regardless of camera mode. Then I thought that you might be talking about the AF mode (auto, single, continuous). Indeed, there are some of the scene modes and such where this function is grayed out. This is the down side to using these auto modes- you give up control over certain parameters to the camera.

Tell him to put the camera on the "P" exposure mode (dial on the top) and see if he can make the changes then.

More info can be found on page 112 in the manual- see the shaded area.

Possible that he has a digital filter turned on - see page 132 and page 133 of the manual to turn filters off/on. When a filter is turned on the continuous mode is disabled. A buddy bought a Km on my advice and had the same snag to start with - I believe the toy filter was turned on when he first received it. Good luck. Ken.
