To my mind composition start with the question, what is this a picture of? In the original sample, I am not sure - the sunset, a barn, a pastoral scene? Lines and DOF can draw you to the subject , as can placement within the frame, but there has to be something of interest to photograph. Which is probably what Pentaxor was trying to say in his original post, off-putting as his (or her?) tone may have been to some.

Add extra contrast, easiest way to make landscape pics "POP". Our 35mm can take nice landscape pics, for that 3D look purchase a Med. format camera. There is talk that Pentax in 2010 will sell the famed 645 in Digital. Now we are talking depth of field. 3 cheers for Pentax!
