Buying DSLR - Urgent Advice needed for Lens

Guys! We are buying a Pentax K7 Yeay! But We are now in another dilemma. What sort of lens should I start with? Twin WR Lens (18-50 / 55-200) or single 18-250?? We love to shoot Landscape / Nature / Portrait. Please help out! We once again sincerely appreciate all your responses and the time and effort in responding!

Thanks,

Sue

I think I would go with the twin WR lenses, but a lot depends on how much you would be out in the weather, sand, etc that could get into your camera. A lot of people really like the 18-250 lens. I think it's a decent lens, but there are definitely compromises when you have that big a range on a zoom.

I would say the twin lens set in the weather resistant versions (WR) you get better protection and better lenses than the superzoom. It gives you a future option to upgrade in parts as well. You might be very happy with the 18-55mm and decide to sell the 50-200mm later on for something like a faster and sharper, Sigma / Tamron 70-200 f2.8 or the DA*60-250mm f4. The 18-55mm is a great little lens to have for a light kit for daily use.

i guess this being your first Pentax i'd recommend the twin pack, as I already have a telephoto, wide angle and standard lens when i buy my K7 I'm thinking the Pentax 17 - 70 mm telephoto.

Did you check out Digital Cameras wharehouse for a price?

Hi Paulc1964au, thank you for your response. I did check with Digital Camera Warehouse and they are finding out whether they can do an interest free deal. I will hear from them tomorrow! Thank you for your response.

Thats great Sue I dont think you will be disappointed, I bought a Pentax K100D as my first DSLR and will be buying the K7 next year unless a newer model is released. I love my camera and the best thing i did was do a camera course which has taught me so much about the camera.

Let us know how you go
