Quantaray Lens liquidation

With Ritz Camera dumping inventory, Tech for Less got a number of lens that fit Pentax and other Cameras. The Pentax mount lens are:

100 mm - 300 mm - f/4.5-6.7 $29.22

70-210 mm f/4.0-5.6 $27.90

70-28 mm f/3.5-4.5 $30.70

28-90 mm f/3.5-5.6 $44.96

I know they are cheap but I don't like wasting money even if it is just a little. Are any of these worth buying?

No, i am wowed. Not wowed enough to buy crappy lenses because they are very cheap but its fun to look at. But if I only had $40 and needed a 300mm zoom this would be quite a buffet.

Quantaray lenses are made by others. The 70-300 will either be a Sigma or Tamron as they used both manufacturers through the years. If it has a 58mm front filter size it's a SIgma, 62mm and its a Tamron. Both are pretty good for the price. 30 bucks for the 100-300 would probably be well worth it for someone who needed a long zoom.

was reading one of the reviews and couldn't stop laughing

Price Paid: $100.00 from Ritz Camera

Summary:
Junk. This lens is junk. Sure, it's got a great range, it's light, and small. However, a 3 year old with tracing paper can produce a better quality image.

Strengths:
Light comes through it.

Weaknesses:
As sharp as a hot dog. Zoom ring would probably turn smoother if you dipped it in sand for lubrication. Lens is about as quick as jello left out overnight in Anchorage in February. Someone with ADD can focus quicker and longer. Hunts more than Ted Nugent. Slightly quieter than the crowd outside of a Larry the Cable Guy show.

I agree. I paid $75 at a Ritz store that was closing. This is the Tamron version and along with my K100D it is VERY light weight and it is my primary choice for shooting pics for now. It also has a great Macro mode!
