I'd wait for production units

k-x is getting more and more attractive now. One big thing is its faster AF and high ISO performance. Video is a plus.
One thing I've learned about high ISO performance is that you need to wait till production units are out in the hands of "normal" photographers. It is extremely hard to judge by shots sized and generated for web comsumption. I'd be interested in seeing "real" high ISO performance in a side by side comparison before I make my opinion of the relative merits of each camera's output at high iso levels.

Then, any chance k-x high ISO performance would be worse than k20d?

I think the K-m or K-x would be right for you, specially with your intended pupose of taking photos of the new baby and having to be able to take video too.
I think K-x also has live view (since it has video) and that would also make it easy for you to compose shots just like a P&S (point and shoot).
Good luck on your purchase and congratulations on choosing Pentax.
