Possible Pentax K20D

I have been offered a Pentax K20D for $640 with the lens kit, with 12965 shoots/shutter activations. Do you think this is a good deal?
What would you say would be a desirable shutter activation number?
Thanks

Sounds a bit high...
I'd recommend finding a factory refurb somewhere - there were some for $499 at bestbuy before, but now they're gone. I got one, and it's like new (or new, who knows...), with only 200 actuations on it. Kit lens is pretty cheap - about 50 or so for first version.

The Ritz offer is a "body only" so I am not sure thats such a spanking great deal either.

But if you're enquiring about the one on offer in this forum's marketplace, you've not mentioned that it's also coming with a good SD card and is in excellent condition.

It's not a bad deal at all.
There's no such thing as a 'desirable' shutter count - They last for around 100,000 - in the scheme of things, even 10,000 is few - you'll be looking to upgrade from it by the time you reach 50,000 with it...

Try it out

Bring an SD card and try the camera out. If it works well, $640 with the kit lens is a reasonable price. Also see if you can get a card included.

offer them $600 and see what happens...or is it a friend which can make bargaining kinda tough...if you like the camera and want it, buy it as long as there is still a couple years left on the warranty. No warranty = too 'spensive...
