Loading film into Spotmatic

Yes, it's the 1960's version.

Help? I need help OPENING the back. AND loading the film

This is only the second or third time I've ever really dealt with a 35mm camera like this.

Help?

Have you tried pulling the rewind knob up? It will stop at some point. Just pull up a bit more, the back should swing open.

Go here and scroll down to the "Film Loading" section.

Spotmatics and film really added a sense of anticipation when you remove the roll and can't wait for it to be processed. I sent all of my Ektachrome to Palo Alto and it seemed like forever before it came back. Ah the good old days

For me a not too pleasant one. I let my kid take it on a school trip and she forgot how to open it and pried it open with a screwdriver. It was fixable but I had occasional light leaks afterwards. A little electrical tape solved that problem.
