Pentax k-x newbie lens question

Hi!

I just recieved my Pentax K-X kit with the 18-55mm and the 55-300 lenses. I am planning on using the camera at tradeshows and convetions and I'm hoping to use its video feature to record some interviews as well.

I've had a chance to test out both of my lenses and in bright light the quality is fantastic. When I come inside however, even after locking in the apeture level, the grain is just two much in low lighting.

From my reading on the forums I thinking I need a faster lens. I was looking for any suggestions for something I might find on here or ebay in the $50-$150 range.

When doing the interviews the camera would be an a tripod, and the subject would be sitting or standing fairly close to the camera.

Thanks for your help!

Tim

Any manual focus 50mm lens, like the M or A series 50/1.7, would be a great choice for well under $100.

new to a Pentax K-x

Marc,

Can you be more specific. I'm just a few days in with the camera and interested in a 50 lens but need some more information. So if you can provide some clear examples it would really help. Thanks.

Like I said, really *any* manual focus 50mm lens would work, but for example, the A50/1.7 (SMC Pentax-A 50mm 1:1.7) is very high quality, and fully automatic with respect to exposure and flash - just the focus is manual. Check out any of the many threads on 50mm lenses here and in the Beginner's forum for more info.

Thanks alot. That's really useful. Sorry to ask (this is awesome) but is there an adaptor necessary with the A/50/1.7 for a K-x?
Okay dumb question as it appears the obvious answer is no.

Did buy a SMC Pentax-m 50mm 1:1.7 online so feel like okay this is what it's about awaiting that. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Only m42/screwmount lenses need an adapter. A & M series lenses are both k-mount.
