HELP- when in auto mode why is my shutter speed at 1/80, BLURRED PICS!!

Jori, you're not an idot, you just did not know.
Another way to get more light (an approach most point and shoot camera's do) is adding flash to the scene.
Enable the flash and try to shoot the same picture again.
Of course you may not like the colours, but how to handle that is something to learn from your research
