Need photoshop color balance help

Hello from Maine,

My pal Kate has a poor HP pocket camera and took an important photo with it.



Yikes!

It screwed up terribly.

If only I was there with my cool cameras, I could have been a hero!

Check this out :



I'm not a photoshop guru, I need help!

This is all I could do with my current powers :

You haven't done badly with the original - it unfortunately suffers from too much loss of detail from the colour casting - which makes B&W the most obvious choice to salvage it.

It's also out of focus as the side cushions are sharp, but the baby is not.
There's only so much you can do with this, but with what you have, add contrast, perhaps try a pass of unsharp mask and see your result.

Well it's better than nothing, but that's a tough photo to save...

I'm guessing the UV lamp threw off the color balance?

I've asked my pal who is a Photoshop guru to take a look.

We'll see what he can do. Otherwise I think the best course of action for this photo is for it to be printed large and painted over, or likewise digitally by a graphic artist.

This is pretty Q&D, but you might salvage something from this one with a bit of work.
