Pentax DS auto iso with exposure compensation? (solved)

Hello from Maine

Well I was messing around with the Pentax DS today and I see that "auto iso" works fine. However with exposure compensation, for example - 0.3, "auto iso" is disabled.

Can you set me straight?

Thanks,
Craig

You are correct. This "feature" of auto ISO was in all Pentax cameras (that had auto ISO at all) until the K20D & K200D, as I recall.

Is it possible for me to have auto ISO enabled while I shoot with exposure compensation of - 0.3 ?

That is typically how I shoot on my primary camera, my car camera, and my pocket camera. Also with center focus point only and recompose.

Thanks,
Craig

As I said, no, Pentax cameras before the K20D & K200D do not allow that. You were right the first time - exposure compensation disables auto ISO.

This was actually fixed with K10D as well. I was similarly astonished that this wasn't considered a bug and fixed with a firmware release. I like my (similar) DS2 in a number of ways, but this issue for me makes auto ISO just about worthless so I never use auto ISO anymore on that body.

Huh, that truly seems like a bug

Kodak pocket cameras (that I've tried) are similar - they have "Auto ISO" but not in PASM

Bummer!
