K-7 Interval settings for Star Trails?

Hey you guys I want to attempt my first star trail in my backyard but I'm not sure what is an efficient interval setting for my K-7. The settings where the camera turns on by itself and takes some shots before turning off again, etc.

I'm not really looking for something like really crazy, just a nice simple one since this is going to be my first.

Here is some of the ones that I like from Google Images. I love how their star trail looks that way, it looks clean and nice.

Those aren't interval shots, those are long exposure. They look to be around 10-15 minutes or so. You will need some sort of remote using the "B" setting on your camera and manuall open/close the shutter.

That sounds even better, as it doesn't seem to be as long and that much of a hassle than interval shootings. Only thing is I would have to hold my hand on the remote for 10-15 minutes =/

Those two photos are not single shots. They are made up of stacked photos. Enlarge them, and you'll see the slight gaps.
Single shot startrails don't have that rope look to the trails.
Unless this is a result of some upload quirk.

Get a cheap-o wired remote, it has a lock so you don't have to hold the button down.

Actually, the K-7's "B" setting will open the shutter after the first remote signal and close it after the second. So you can use a cheap wireless remote, click once to open the shutter, go have a cup of coffee, maybe shag a quickie, come back 15 minutes later and click the remote button again to close the shutter :-)
