good zoom for sports

New user, just got refurbed K-100d and I'm looking for ideas on a good (can't afford very good or great) zoom out to 300 to shoot my sons hockey games. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.

The DA 55-300mm is a really nice zoom lens for it's price! It can be had for roughly $350.00.

here is another option that folks seem to like plus it's not expensive at all:

Pentax Lens Review and Specification Database - 100-300mm F4.7-5.8

I looked on eBay and it can be found for $99-$129...certainly not the best of the best but sure seems to take nice shots if you search here and Flickr...

It will not be the fastest AF lens around nor will it be good for night or low light, but for shooting in decent daylight or even well lighted places using a monopod or tripod I bet it will do a fine job.

The already mentioned 55-300 would do a fine job. If you're short on the price, the Sigma or Tamron 70-300's will also do the job quite well.

Be wary, though, that those cheaper telezoom options will be limited in how well they perform, particularly in the 200-300mm range. Their slower speeds mean having to use a much higher ISO to be able to freeze action.
