Where would the remote shutter plug in to the K-x

Or is that even an option?

Thanks

Did you read the manual?
It's available on the Pentax Imaging website.

Nowhere would be the operative term. You'll need a wireless remote (the pentax remote F, or an ebay knockoff); there is an option to set (for bulb mode) first shutter press opens shutter, 2nd press closes shutter.

I read this yesterday:
Remote Control for Pentax

This program was developed to replace the Pentax Remote Control F.
To run this program you need to have a mobile device with Pocket PC, Windows CE, Windows Mobile, IR interface, and MS .Net Compact Framework 2.0.

I have a K20, that and the K10 (probably the K7 as well) all have the socket for a remote release under the terminal cover on the side of the camera opposite the hand grip. These releases work on a half push and full push with a lock for time exposures and generic models are widely available online.
I have studied the K-X manual though, and the K-X does not seem to have a port/socket for the pin type remote, and only works with wireless remotes.

The K-X manual can be hard to find online, but you can dowload a copy from Pentax Japan here http://www.pentax.jp/english/support/man-pdf/k-x.pdf

There is also another thread on the subject here https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-dslr-discussion/80398-remote-control-pentax-kx.html

yeah I don't think the K-x has a slot for the Remote. I just purchased a cheapo remote from ebay that people are talking about in this forum. That should solved the problem ^^

I bought a PocketPC at a garage sale for 20$ this weekend. I upgraded and installed the pentax remote, but it the camera doesn't respond. I made sure to set the drive mode to IR.

My pocketPC allows me to choose a port for the IR. I tried them all to no avail.

The K-7 has it on the right hand side, underneath the SD card slot. Stupid location really, since it makes it next to impossible to hold the camera normally if you have the remote release plugged in; sure, if you're using a cable release, the camera would most likely be on a tripod already, but a release cable gets in the way of even moving and positioning the camera around.

I mean the K-7. Read my previous post, and what I quoted, and that might clarify things a bit. Note, when I say right hand side, I'm talking about from the perspective of the photographer, so the side of the hand grip.
