inexpensive flash for K200D

I am a camera novice so forgive me. But can anyone suggest an inexpensive external flash for my K200D. I think I would like one with a tilt/swivel head but I would like to stay under $100. I just don't know what features are required (if any exist) that would allow the camera/flash unit to work together automatically. And then I can continue to learn the finer aspects of their more advanced capabilities.

This one might do you good: YN-462 Flash Speedlight For Canon Nikon Pentax Olympus - eBay (item 270500639935 end time Jan-11-10 19:52:19 PST)

I'm ordering a few of those soon.

If you google "strobist" you'll find a very well know blog that will give you lots of information on the use of manual hotshoe flashes, and suggestions on brands/models I think.

If you want those features and want to stay under $100 you should consider an old Pentax AF280T. Very nice flash, can communicate with your camera, and you'll have half of your $100 still in your pocket.

I noticied the AF280T is TTL only and not PTTL - will this be much of a problem/ Once again I will be useing it on a K200D. And by the way - THANKS to everyone who has replied.

Personal experience and opinions vary, but as far as my very limited experience with P-TTL went I didn't care for it all.

You are correct that TTL is worthless on the K200D. The auto modes will work just fine, though. Some of us find the outdated and obsolete auto mode implementation more consistent and reliable than P-TTL.

At any rate, if you want bounce, swivel, camera-flash communication, and all for under $100, the AF280T can do it.

A few sample images from the AF280T in auto mode and (mostly) ceiling bounced
