I want to help you, I really do. But I'm afraid that the instructions I give might cause you to brick your camera. I don't want to be responsible for that. Your best bet is to find a friend who's more computer-literate and get him to do it for you. It's really a very straightforward procedure, and anyone who knows computers well enough should have no problem.

How about the following:

- Put a SD card into your camera and turn it on.
- Format a SD card using your camera menu, this will delete all pictures, save them before formatting.
- Download the firmware update onto your computer. (Manuals and Literature - Official PENTAX Imaging Web Site)
- Unpack the download, the file ending on .bin is the firmware file.
- Connect your camera to your computer using the USB cable delivered with the camer.
- Turn on the camera.
- Make sure the USB-connection is configured as MSC in the camera.
- Open the camera device by clicking on the My Computer Icon, then choosing the camera (it shows as a removable disc in your explorer), opening this device folder.
- It should be empty.
- Copy & paste the .bin file onto the camera device folder.
- Turn off the camera and disconnect.
- Make sure you have fully loaded batteries in the camera from here on.
- Follow the camera firmware update instructions as from the point where you have put a SD card with firmware into the camera.

Cheers, Bert
