Loose flash battery compartment door (AF-280T)

The battery compartment door on my AF-280T flash unit has become quite loose. I basically have to squeeze the door to get enough pressure on the contact for the unit to power on.

Any suggestions/ideas would very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Check for corrosion on the electrical contacts on the door. I've had similar problems on another make of flash due to dingy contacts.

i use an elastic band... one meant for broccoli, wrapped around the flash body... if you need more pressure put some stuff under the band to concentrate pressure on the part that needs to be pressed in. it's a cheap fix and it works for my 360fgz

If your door is corroded, I've got a non working AF280 I've been keeping for parts. Drop me a PM, and I would probably part with it.

Thanks everyone for your helpful suggestion. Have been very busy, but will check the door for corrosion and scour for an elastic band once I have a bit of free time.

I'm wondering if this is a common problem. The door does seem to be quite flimsy.

I've had problems with the door on my 280T for years. I'm on my fourth rubber band now.
