Newbie K-x Owner Looking for Opinions about Tamron AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II LD

I'm a new K-x owner. I bought the kit with 2 lenses, 18-55 and 50-200. I have been thinking that I'd like one lens rather than traveling with the two.

I've been looking at Tamron AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II LD, which I've seen for $289, plus a $60 mail in rebate that Tamron has now.

I'm looking for opinions about this lens and whether this (with the rebate) is a good deal. Is it worth buying?

I have that lens - it is a decent performer as a walkabout and travel lens, and I got it at a good price sometime ago. If the price is right, go for it.

But if I was buying a similar lens again I'd go for the 18-250, which has a reputation as a better performer than the 18-200 and gives you a useful degree of extra reach. A good review of it is here:

Thanks for the feedback. I'll read through the reviews. The final net price of the Tamron 18-200mm after the rebate is $229, but depending on the reviews, I might hold off and just invest in something better.
