being a heretic...

I have yet other uses for extension tubes. Yes, I use Vivitar and Ricoh 'A' M42's for macro stuff. And I have a bunch of cheap non-auto PK tubes -- I ordered two sets (US$10 each) from a Hong Kong supplier, and they sent me FOUR sets. They're modular, with PK front and back mounts and generic threaded tubes in between. But I don't use those for macro work much; they're much handier for stuffing non-standard lenses (or any refractive material) into, then mounting on bellows. A large-format lens; a spectacles lens; some oddity from Edmund Scientific; an old chandelier crystal; a chunk of old window or bottle glass; whatever. They're great for experimentation (even if most of the results are horrible). The aperture may be a black plastic or paper disc with a hole (of varying shape) punched in it. The contraption may be ungainly, ugly; but making art isn't always pretty, eh?
