Hi to All,

am still a newbie with photography and i just bought my pentax k-x with the 18-55 kit lens.

My problem is (big), i can't get a good night-time landscape photography. I've been doing this with my fujifilm f50d and i even get a better result please help...

do i need a better lens? i've been thinking about buying a 50mm for portraits as well.

Thanks in advance

Can you post some shots that you are not happy with? Using a tripod might help

The camera is available on amazon for $473 with 18-55m AL lens and for $573 for the 50-200 mm ED lens. I'm a newbie. I have just handled D5000. So my question is, is 0really worth the extra $100 in getting the 50-200mm lens in the kit. I'm not very sure about this because I have seen not so happy reviews about the kit lens offered.

This shot was taken with 18-55

and this one was taken with 55-300

Phew! Gorgeous hummingbird and lovely capture! I've put my 50-200mm kit up on ebay because I need cash towards a limited lens, but pics like this (and several I've taken) are making it hard to let it go! Darned limited lenses and their darned gorgeous images :P

if you're into portraits, grab a cheap 50 prime before you leave the us. hell, i'd grab two . pentax k or m42 will do, for m42 you will also need an adapter. if choosing a pentax mount, a k-a will be easier to use than a k-m (aka smc-a vs smc-m), but also more expensive. if you grab an m42 fast 50, get a pair of m42 extension rings too (they should be dirt cheap, and you'll be able to play with macro too, for next to nothing). this should keep you busy for a while .

have fun
