moderator - pls make a thread about "new K-x has something loose/noise/etc." sticky?

This same question has been asked (and answered) all too often.

How about Pentax making it clear on the cover of their manual or a little tag attached to the camera. I shudder to think of the lost sales as people think they are all duds. Not to mention the returns ... i've been saying this for 2 years.

It is not actually the K-x.
Every DSLR that Pentax made which had the SR is affected.
It is all too often also mentioned from those first time Pentax users and first time users of the K-7.
This had also been the case with all the other models which has SR.

It's amazing what a few minutes spent with the manual will do to answer these questions. LOL

I don't think making the "noise/loose" type threads sticky will change anything. Some folks are like my ex; they will not RTM/RTFM on pain of death. It would be against their personal code. In my experience, searching forums for answers to their questions seems to fall into the same category as reading the manual.

I'm glad that there are so many generous Pentaxians to help those who ask.

But how will we know of new Pentax Users?

This question is like a right of passage for new users on this board.

Haha! I actually chuckled when I read this. Guess it does serve to help the new arrivals stand out in the crowd.

We'd still have:

- why won't my manual lens work?
- which is better, the 50-200, 55-300, or the Tamron or Sigma 70-300's?
- what's the difference between all the letters in the lens names (DA, FA, M, etc)?
- why won't my camera go down to ISO 100?
- which 50mm lens should I get?
etc.

BTW, I like the idea of the sticky thread on this topic, but I don't know that this particular thread is the one to stick. I'll keep my eye out for the next one, then stick it and close it.

I always thought there was a better more light hearted way to address this issue,

If pentax wanted you to stick your ear against the camera and listen, it would come with headphones, not a viewfinder

I am not sure it is an innitiation or welcome to new arrivals as much as a lack of comprehension about the camera people just bought.
