I ordered my K7 and 2 kit WR lenses from them - they did the call back and upsell and I ended up getting a bit more (memory cards, extra battery, 5 year extended (covers all accidents) warranty for the body) for nearly free.

Today I ordered the Sigma 70-200 HSM II, Rode Stereo VideoMic, UV Filter and a 7 year additional warranty (again covering all physical damage/defects with $0 deductible) for the lens. I asked for a further discount on the products, got the lens for $30 off, Mic for $20 off, filter for $30 off, and the warranty for $100 off (warranty was originally $199). Also they threw in free expedited shipping!

Abe's has treated me extremely well, I will go to them again.

I also just ordered my K7, sigma 17-70 lens, and memory card from them. They sent the wrong memory card - different brand, 8Gb, vs 16Gb...called and they sent out another 8GB that was here in three days.

I am going to try them because BH has really been sucking lately. Gee.

I bought a Tamron 70-300 lens a week before from Abes of Maine. They called me to confirm the order. They did ask me whether I had any questions regarding the product. Even after the purchase I called them with a question. I found them really good.

I'll admit I was a bit turned off at the upsell emails/phone calls and cancelled an order with them (maybe a bit too hastily?). I was unfamiliar with them and had images of a Crooklyn scam, then bailed. Maybe since you all have had a good experiences with them I'll give them a second shot next time. It's just that after buying so much stuff from Newegg, Amazon, etc. it felt weird getting the upsell.

.........In case you didn't know, many of these stores are owned by Orthodox Jews, which is why you can't order online from Friday night to Saturday night. Although the web store is automated, observant Jews are still not allowed to do business, even via the site, on the Sabbath.

I'm pretty sure Abe is like this, and I know B&H is.

I have always admired them for that. Everybody has principals. Not everybody stands by them as they do.

I bought a lens from them about 2 months ago and received an email telling me call them (to "confirm" the order). Of course, it was an attempt to upsell some accessories, but after telling them NO my order was shipped out timely.

I find their prices to be competitive if not a tiny bit cheaper than other online stores, so it's worth it go through their upselling hassles.

I have bought all my pentax equipment from them and never had a problem. They ship very fast and there packing is excellent. The only thing that really bugged me is when I called them to confirm my order they kept trying to sell me extra things on top of my previous purchase.

I just ordered a Sigma 100-300mm from them. They charged my card and asked Sigma to drop ship. As I feared, Sigma had closed this lens out.

Josh from Abe's notified me on the projected shipping date, kept me up to date has he looked into the problem, and cancelled the order promptly when he could not be sure they could deliver.

Disappointing experience in general but Abe's handling of it was good. I'd try again anytime.
