I read somewhere that it's the mirror mechanism working.

It is perfectly normal for this slight "clunking" feel/sound, I have freaked out with Pentax Customer Support when I bought my ist* D and they assured me it is perfectly normal. The slight "clunking" feel has been present with every PK DSLR I have owned right up to the K5-IIs and I've owned every model excepting the 645D(never owned that) over the years.

I've had my k-50 for about a month and just heard and felt the "clunk" for the first time tonight. Being a DSLR neophyte, I freaked out. Thank God I came on here and found this thread.
