Welcome to the forums and congrats on the new camera.

Yes the LED can be shut off. It has 3 settings. Page 254 of the English manual under "Power Lamp" in the index. Item 20 in Custom Settings.

As for these lenses. Few can be used on a K mount body. The most common that can be used are K mount to M42 screwmount, also screwmounts like M39 with the correct adapter. But with other brands, there are issues with register distances to the sensor etc. This is also very true in other brands of cameras. The lenses need major modifications to make them work. The issue is with different register distances (Canon being shorter) that you would loose infinity focus and basically only have a close focus lens. Have a look at this post.

What's the mount on the Planar? If it's the first photo, then no. If it is a screw on lens, then probably. Forget the Canon lenses. You can't use them on Pentax. In fact you can't use them on Canon either.

Have a look through this: Screwmount data base. All you need is a genuine Pentax M42 to K mount adapter (around $30 in the US) and you can use all these wonderful lenses. Maybe the best value is the SMC Takumar 55mm f1.8 at around $50.00 here.

See also the lens review section of this site. Of the manual focus lenses, the A, M, and K series lenses all mount with no adapter. The A series supports full autoexpousre; the others require stop down metering (see the sticky thread in this forum on using manual lenses). the m series is probably the most popular.
