Dell outlet is used and open box, a different sort of deal.
No I checked, it was for a brand new USA warranty camera. That's what I originally had thought too. Look on ***************, I think the link is still on there somewhere.

Is the 55-300 really worth the extra $100 when I can buy a used 70-300 for under $100? Then sell the 55-200 for the same?

Well actually I guess it wasn't too recently now that I think about it. Maybe Januaryish? I just remember looking for deals on there and seeing it from Newegg and Dell outlet with the USA warranty for that much.

That is such good prices. But to be on the safe side, it is best to call and verify that this is not gray market unit and comes with Pentax's U.S. warranty (I assume you are from the U.S.).

That is a pretty good price but i dont see why it woudlnt be legit. This deal didnt last long but I picked up the K-X with 55-300 bundle for $630 shipped from B&H.

Pentax K-x 12.4 MP Digital SLR with 2.7-inch LCD and 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL and 55-300mm Lenses (Black) $630 after 3% BCB - *************** Forums

Ive bought from them in the past. They're legit, but they will call and try to sell aftermarket extended warranty and accessories. Just politely decline and everything should be OK.

If the dealer's reputable, go for it. That sounds like an amazing deal!

That's like eBay price, but several retailers have had deals on K-x kits over the past few months, so it could be ok.

I got my K-x from Amazon, but then it wasn't really on sale, so I got a new one on eBay, too, for $430 and returned it to Amazon. Bought the DA 50-200mm ED new for $145 on eBay, so my total price was $575 also. So it's not out of the realm of possibilities.

I have seen this kit for around $600 on Amazon. This is a very good price, but the 55-300mm seems to better rated.

edit: It still goes for $600 on Amazon, so that might be an option of you are looking for a reputable merchant.

I just checked the B & H website. They sell the same combo for $599.99 with free shipping in the US. There's no mention of any rebate.

Its a little bit more, but many people consider B & H to be the gold standard for online camera retailers.

On Resellerratings.com, Butterfly has a six month rating of 6.27 (out of 10), definitely mediocre. B & H's rating is 9.71.

BTW, the Pentax USA website (http://www.pentaximaging.com) says that there are no special offers currently being offered, so where is that other $20 coming from?

Unless you got your k-x in 2002....1 euro did not equal $1.
