200D Shake

I just picked up a used 200D, using my 300 DA zoom. I don't really see any difference in photos with and w/o the shake on or off.

Any suggestions on benchmark tests for evaluating, before taking it in?

ltes se if this works? Photos 62-72 shake on
photos 73-82 shake off

Looks to me it isn's working and need repair?

post some pictures here. There is test out there that used a laser pointer and some other stuff but that might be a bit much for your case. Keep in mind that SR does not engage until you see the SR icon show up in the viewfinder when you half-press the shutter button.

In order to see a difference, you'd need to be shooting at a shutter speed where ther'e like to *be* a difference. For the 300mm lens, I'd expect to see a difference at maybe 1/180" and slower. Take ten shots with SR on, ten off, then zoom into to 100% on the spot where you focused. Overall, the shots with SR should be sharper. But realistically, most of the value of SR on pentax cameras is at shorter focal lengths - it's well known to be not as effective at longer focal lengths like 300mm.

Shake Reduction Repair Estimate $300

I added a link to some photos. 10 on 10 off I really do not see a difference.
I recieived a quote for $300 to repair. Will it be woth it. As I have read several posts that question the improvement it offers. Granted I am shooting with a 300mm DA and expecting improvement with the SR on.

Looks like you had very good results with SR off - not much room for SR to improve. Try lowering shutter speed until you get fewer successes without SR.

If you get time, read this article. Yeah, it is about Nikon but the principle applies to all cameras with image stabilization, shake reduction or vibration reduction.
