Available photos count down

My K100D has suddenly decided to show a total of 999 pictures available when I insert a new/empty memory card.

This number doesn't reduce as pictures are taken although the serial numbers allocated to each shot are as normal

Any idea what's going on and what I need to do to get things back to normal?

Regards
AJ

My guess is that you are in JPG mode. The camera is showing you that it can store lots and lots of photos... in fact it cannot accurately say how many. So it puts up the most it can register.

Hope that's it!

Is it possible that you inadvertently changed your Save options? Not saving RAW, Minimal size JPGs, etc?? I know too that some types of photos take far less space than others.

I think the K100D is limited to 3 characters for that info. On bigger cards, you might be over that limit. It should count down once you get under 1000 shots.
