Firmware updates

I would like to know if there is a possibility of increasing the SD Memory capacity on the K100--currently it will not recognize a 4gb card--am limited to 2gb.

I think you are at the dividing line between SD and SDHC. If your camera was not designed for SDHC, no firmware update will help as it is a hardware difference.

I can use SDHC cards on the *ist DS after firmware upgrades, and that camera is the oldest Pentax DSLR that takes the SD format. So if any other Pentax camera doesn't recognize an SDHC card, there's either a card issue or a firmware update is needed. look at pentaximaging.com for information on your firmware version.

The new firmware from the Pentax site allowed my K100D to accept the higher capacity sd card. chig

Several firmwares were released today together: K200D, K2000, K-m, K20D, K10D. See also the thread: New firmwares today. Unfortunately, not for the K100D.

OK--I went to Pentax website and was able to get an update!---Camera capacity for SD card was upgraded--recognized a 4gb card....might even do an 8gb card....but do not have one...yet.

I see that you have figured it out.

I just picked up a k100d myself a few weeks ago and came across the same issue; even though the ad specifically stated sdhc support.

The support however is in the firmware upgrade provided on the website; the release notes state pretty much their only update to the firmware was for sdhc support.
