Dead K10D: How to remove the sensor?

My K10D fell from a breakfast table onto marble. It died.

I decided to autopsy today. I want to rip the sensor out of the metal cage, but two metal shafts imprison it. How do I remove these shafts or otherwise undo this metal sandwich?

Thats really sad to hear. If you wen't the canibalizing route, try at least to document everything well. Photograph all parts, tag pictures. It might become usefull to someone.

Btw. Did you found out what broke down?

Either there has to be some screws or if it's riveted you have to drill the rivets very carefully.

Sorry for your loss. However, you got to play with the camera. As others suggested, document everything as much as possible you or another member may need this info.
