Ist DL processing time

I am just wondering if it takes any other dslr users caameras as long to process the picture as mine, for example, I just took a picture in bulb mode for 15 min, then for 15 min afterward my camera is totally unusable untill it has processed and written to the card. It does this with any length of picture and it drives me nuts! Is this a setting, or am I stuck with this?

I found it is the same for my K10D, the slower the shutter speed, the longer I have to wait for it to process the picture!

This is because you have set the option for in-body "noise reduction". What happens is that the sensor takes another "blank" shot just after the real one. With that shot, it is able to subtract all digital noise from the original image.

It has to last as long as the original one though, as the longer the exposure, the hotter the sensor, thus the more noise.

For bulb mode with several minutes of exposure time, you may prefer to turn "noise reduction" off and remove the coloured dots manually.
