K-x IQ- All that and a bag of chips!

So I decided to get a K-x into the studio here, first day with it. It's one thing to read about the IQ of this camera and hear reviews raving about it along with owners raving about it, and quite another to experience it yourself.

What I like is that the K-x (and K7) is that they get AWB so accurate, it's such a relief not to have to worry about color so much. Also, that ISO 800 is absolutely off the hook fantastic on the K-x.

Couple of samples with NR off

ISO 800 (color is perfect with AWB here too, this flower is tough to get right)

ISO 3200 (perfect grain, and color again, even at high ISO)

So far completely impressed IQ wise. The K-x is probably the best image quality you can get for $499.00 body only, I'd even go so far to say that it is, period. This is one good little DSLR in that respect.

Not impressed with the battery door (it creaks in my hand) or lack of AF illuminated points (only in dim lighting though), but other than that, this is a heck of a bargain.

K300D, add illuminated AF points, Lithium Battery (and improved battery door), and weather sealing, this camera would be perfect.

Carl

Edit: I started a review on the K-x too, fyi

I'm confused - the EXIF data says its ISO 6400.

Odd colour for cornchips though.......

Great little camera though - my daughter has one and loves it. If I could transplant the sensor into a body like the K200D.....

Cheers

You're like, all in, lol. Hmm what kind of hand do I have to play? Lets see here...

How about a cross processing card?

Since starting a K-x review, my next move right now is playing with the cross processing, interesting results, I like.
