Question on K-7 and lens

Is it bad to hold the K-7 with the lens hanging down from the mount with a 51 oz. 100-300 Sigma F4. I noticed as I was hiking around this week end at times I needed my other hand to do something and was holding the camera lens down.
I understand the lens mount is not made to carry alot of weight but not sure whats too much. Thanks for the help.

Should be fine dangling down, as far as the mount goes. Using K7 with DBG4 loaded with eneloops and 60-250 I get worried about the strap and strap attachments, never had a concern about the mount itself.
The 100-300 is heavier but should be fine.
Cheers, Mike.
