SR on K7 at 1/180 sec.

Not sure if it was mentioned before but I noticed that when taking photos at 1/180 sec. the photos are slightly blurred. I experienced this issue with my three FA Limiteds. If I go slower than 1/180 sec, there is no blur and the pictures are normally sharp.
Anyone experience the same issue or is it just me?

Upgrade your firmware to the latest version, then you shouldn't see this problem again.

Hmm, that's strange. It's a known bug before the new firmware. My K7 had the same problem, especially when using external flash. Now the problem is gone after the firmware upgrading.

There were some discussions about this before here at the forum, and quite a few on DPR too. But I can't seem to find many. This is one:

Good luck.

This might be a silly question but have you checked that the version 1.03 firmware installed properly, i.e. when you check the firmware version what does it say?

Shake reduction is far from perfect. There's a lot going on to make it work properly, and there are many possible issues. Since I only use a short 35MM lens I just leave it tuned off. If I was to get a longer lens someday I might use it some, but only if I really needed it. It would still be off most of the time.

This article is about the Nikon system, but it's a good read and many of the issues are relevant to our system as well:

On shake reduction (SR) or image stabilisation (IS), two articles are Slrgear.com are worthwhile reading:
How to Read Image Stabilization Test Results - SLRgear.com!
Image Stabilization Test: Olympus E-520 SLR Body - SLRgear.com!

Some conclusisons included:
- the camera IS systems achieved greater shake reduction at shorter focal lengths than at longer ones;
- most lens-based systems gave a trend in the other direction showing more improvement at longer focal lengths;
- there was little difference between IS On and IS Off at shutter speed faster than 1/Fl where FL is the focal length.

These results were obtained with an Olympus E520, and would need to be tested thoroughly with a Pentax body.

Voe, just looking at the first two number doesn't tell you what firmware you have...
The latest K7 firmware is the 1.03.00.22 (supposedly fixes the SR problem, who knows?).

You have to scroll down in PhotoMe. There is another entry about the firmware with more than 1.03.
