Pentax istDS Colour issues

Hi,

I bought my istDS as an ex-demo model. I love the crispness of the photographs it takes but the colours are always dull and need to be editing. Makes no difference what light I am shooting in, it is always the same.

I have tried different lenses just incase that was the issue but that makes no difference. Anyone who can tell me how to get better colourtone settings would be appreciated.

Have you adjusted the in-camera saturation or color temperature at all? Those could make quite a big difference

No I haven't personallly. I dont have the manual for it. All of the little setting bars, saturation, brightness etc have the bars sitting in the centre of the - + thingee lol. I can't actually seem to get in to that section to play with the settings either. Most other options in the menu have a small arrow you can scroll across to and adjust.. these ones don't

If that made any sence at all

Try setting the dial to P mode. Some shooting modes (mostly the 'noob' settings) disable customizations. Maybe you are in the, well, *ahem*, Green Mode

Do you shoot raw & use ACR or LR? If so, you might tweak the Camera Calibration settings. I can give you my data if you want.

If you're talking about the camera manual

Access to some settings might be disabled depending on other settings.

As is almost always the case, posting images would help, preferably with EXIF intact so we can see what settings were used. Right now, it's impossible to say if something is wrong with the camera, if you have a setting that is causing the results you are seeing, or if you just happen to be someone who likes colors more saturated than the DS does by default (if so, simply turning up saturation and or switching from Natural to Bright mode may be all it takes).

Yes, please post some images if you would. Our albums system as well as our user photo gallery automatically reads the EXIF if it's available!
