Free 3 year warranty for K7?

I read a thread on another website (DP) that Pentax provides a free 3 year warranty and checkup for K7 if you fax in your invoice within 30 days. Anyone know about this? Info is sketchy at best.

Yes, it's true. I got my k-7 with the standard one year warranty. When I called to register my camera, they told me about a free two year extension on the warranty. All I had to do was fax my receipt. It arrived about a week later. Easy as pie.

Yes. I invite anyone to go to the Pentax website when they have these and other questions. Don't be afraid. I even scanned mine (the invoice/proof of purchase) and attached to an email and received the additional two years. As long as you have bought the camera new from an approved seller, you should get the extension with no problem.

That's terrific news. I haven't cracked the box on my new K7 yet, so I don't know if they even provide warranty cards any longer.

BTW, if Pentax is extending the warranty by 2 years for free isn't it unscrupulous that retailers are selling the same Pentax extended warranty for as much as $49?

Yes, Bob. I would say that's unscrupulous, but unfortunately, I don't think that behavior is restricted to cameras.

Wish they would do the same for the lenses. 1 year is pretty stingy for glass. I would love to have 3 to 5 on those.
