K-7 AF illumination

I did a search for this and didnt see anything, so here it goes.

I am a new owner of the wonderful Pentax K-7. I was wondering if this is normal:

The AF confirmation blinks/lights for the AF points in my VF are pretty weak, and the bottom 3-4 only light up about 25% of the way (meaning only the bottom of the box/dot lights up. The center AF box probably lights up about 50%, so it looks more like a "u".

Anyone else have this? Besides the fact they are extremely faint as it is, without the AF confirmation beep, you never know if you got a lock except for the AF lock in the VF info panel.... which I use, but still its nice to see which AF points got a lock.

Coming from using Nikons and owning several Canons, I have not had this issue before.

Thanks for everyone in advance!

That shouldn't be happening- sounds like it might be a defect! They're all quite clear and square shaped in my viewfinder.

Adam,

Thanks... I mean its not detrimental to the operation of the camera, but it does seem like its not supposed to be that way. None of my other cameras have ever had such faint AF confirmation blinks.

Well, I have a lot of shooting to do this weekend, then I guess I will see if I can't get it replaced or repaired.

So just to clairify, when you get AF locks and your points illiminate in the VF they are bright and solid blocks (center is a square)?

Those of my K-7 certainly are, as were those of my K10D before it.

Thanks! I have processed my exchange with Amazon, they are sending an advanced exchange... which is also shipped same day.

Again, thanks again. I was worried this was just one of those things they didn't do as well as others.
