Pentax needs new algorithm to improve AF speed. Hopefully, it will be reflected in the next model after k7 this year.

I don't photograph things that move quickly (birds, kids, sports etc.), so the AF speed is fine for me. My bigger worry from an AF point of view is SDM reliability, but that wouldn't ever make me switch brands (there are lots of lovely DA/FA Limited lenses without SDM!)

They could come out with the World's Best Autofocus, and I could care less if it's not a Full Frame camera. If it's APS-C, they won't sell it to me. (Whaddaya know, I'm a poet and didn't even know it!)

Why am I not surprised???

You don't seem to have any photos posted here - would you mind telling us what kind of photos you take? I'd like to understand you need for FF vs AF...

AF and SR

Between AF and SR issues, if Pentax can't fix, I will be leaving this brands DSLR market altogether.

Couldn't care less. Rarely use af on any of my dslrs. Would probably buy a body without af if available. Even my new Olympus E30 is mostly used on manual focus with older OM lenses or Pentax K with adapter.
thanks

I have used my K-7 with the DA* 50-135 and in AF-C and have been extremely happy with the results.

I shot a short soccer match in Egypt along the river

Nile River Soccer Match - a set on Flickr

What you see is pretty much what I shot, I think out of the 300 or so I actually shot I deleted about 4-5 maximum that weren't in focus.

So the K-7's AF is more than suitable for sports, contrary to what people say. The only thing I felt that was an issue was the write speeds to the card, I use a Sandisk Extreme II 32gb card.
