It's what separates one line of text from another. Generlly speaking, what you get by hitting "Enter". Originally, this was often implemented as two separate characters (holdover frommanual typewriter days): a carriage return to return to the beginning of the line, and a line feed to advance the paper. If you ever used a manul typewriter, you probably had levers that could do these jobs separately as well as one lever that combined them. Not sure, but I suspect most text editors just use the single "carriage return" character (ctrl-M on most keyboards) when you hit "Enter". Very occasionally, it's necessary to still make a distinction in a computer text file between this and the line feed character (Ctrl-J). If some particular program (like the camera firmware) firmware expects Ctrl-J to end a line but your text editor uses Ctrl-M when you hit Enter, just use Ctrl-J instead of Enter.

I create txt file named MODSET.492
write into it what it says in link above and I can press whatever (enter/ ctrl + m / ctrl + j) at the end and save it. Put it into camera, start while holding Av and nothing happnes. Camera just turns on in normal mode...
what am I doing wrong?

Have you cecked that the file is "MODSET.492" and not "MODSET.492.txt"?
(on windows known files extensions are hidden by default)

I've attached a working file, you've just to rename it.
Open a shell, go where you've saved the file then type:

Code:
ren MODSET.txt MODSET.492

Attached Files
File Type: txt MODSET.txt (21 Bytes, 260 views)
