*ist D S2 VS K10D :(

I have been using my sister's *ist D S2 6mp, and this camera seems to take sharper pictures than mine.

I've tried em both side by side... same lenses, same lighting, same everything and the pictures on her's seem to be sharper?

I even tried cleaning my K10d's sensor... what gives?

I used the DS2 for a year before I picked up the K10D, but the K10D does deliver better photos because of the increased sensor resolution. There might be something wrong with your SR system, or it may be set incorrectly if you're using a manual lens. Make sure it's off, then try comparing the cameras again!

I compared with 1 manual lens, and 2 auto lenses.

Shooting JPG? Could it be a difference in default sharpening levels?

The K10D has more resolution than the 6 megapixel models of yesteryear
As such, focus errors/motion-blur/subject blur/lens deficiencies will show up more "clearly"
The K10D is definetly less forgiving.
Let's see some pictures!

I agree. Was the comparison done at a 1:1 pixel ratio? (As opposed to 1:1 frame scale ratio?) If you do the comparison at a 1:1 pixel ratio, the K10D will look "worse" unless you have really good glass because it magnifies the flaws more.

There's also the possible difference in JPEG sharpening features. Try a RAW comparison using the same converter with the same settings.

i have heard that increasing the resolution of a camera without increasing the size of the censor leads to more noise or im trying to get at what egordon is saying haha

but im not too positive on all that...possible problem tho?

also not to insult your intelligence or anything but if you are using a tripod for the shots are you sure that you dont have the SR turned off on the k10? if the shots are both hand held then disregard this haha
