K10D withSigma Flash

Hello all, new member here. Just purchased a K10D with a 17-35mm Sigma from Cameta. At the same time I bought on Ebay a flash for it. I thought I did my research and so won a Sigma EF-500 DG Super.
Later, I was doing some more research and found out the flash is specific to Sigma camera's that have S-TTL and our K10K is P-TTL.
My question is can I use this flash or should I re-list it and get the right one?

Thanks,
Ray

Yeah, that is what I thought. But, I just found a site that gave the impression that the flash is programmable between formats. So, until I get both in hand I can only rely on you guys vast experience.
Thanks,
Ray

Did the site indicate that it is user-programmable between formats?

say what??? Mine does...

Sigma provide a free update for the DG Super to allow it to support the K series cameras. And newer constructed ones don't need the update...

Joele- do you know how to tell either
a) a rechipped one, or
b) one that doesn't require rechipping?

eg. serial number?

Must be something with the serial numbers. On mine I called Sigma headquarters in Kawasaki and gave them the serial number. Turned out it didn't need rechipping.

Just an update to this thread I started. I now have camera and flash in hand and after calling Sigma it's confirmed that the flash doesn't work. The terminals don't match and Sigma told me they don't alter/change the flashes.
So, I will re-post the flash on eBay and get one that does work, this time with a little more research!

Thanks,
Ray
