LCD Screen - Best angle to view it at.

Probably a dumb question, but :

Just wondering what others do to get a reliable viewing angle of the rear LCD screen.
Found that there is quite a variation depending on what angle the camera is held at, as to wether the image your are veiwing is bright (Looks ovrexposed) or very dark.
Get some suprises when you go to edit some days as it ain't the way it looked on the screen that's for sure.

The only clue I've come up with is leaving a reference image on the SD card that I know is right and tilting the camera till this is correct, then checking out other images.

Generally, straight on is considered best.

Using the histogram is helpful and it does not change with the angle of the LCD.
