Can some please check their downloaded firmware file k7_e110w and see if they get the same number as me:

Size: 9,814,889 bytes

The download cut off for me a few times, and I'm not very keen on putting an under-baked update file in my K-7.

Either you got the whole thing or part of mine is missing. Since I kind of doubt that our numbers would be exactly the same, looks like you got it all. If you didn't by the way, it probably wouldn't extract.

that's what I got... and it worked fine

I agree with JeffJS, if it wasn't compete it wouldn't extract properly.

I noticed PhotoMe says it's version 1.10.00.25

Which is quite interesting, as it means there were 2 unreleased versions since the previous v1.03.00.22 (".22" being the total amount of internal versions).

Woah big difference in liveview mode, AF is actually finally usable

I think i'm totally imaging this, but video recording esp under low light seems to be improved, less noise.

Definitely worth it!

An early Christmas present!
Much better having the live view AF from the shutter button. Definitely faster acquisition - at least half the time or less in my tests this evening in interior lighting. It doesn't do the whole racking in and out. It will go "through" the correct focus a bit then it "jumps" back to it. Almost like a combination of contrast and phase methods. But at ranges of 1- 3 metres it now usually acquires in about 1/2 second whereas before it was usually over 1 second. One oddity - it seems to hunt more with high contrast subjects - focus time for black print on white paper was longer than on the grey computer keys at same distance.
When it was faster it seemed to me as good as the Olympus EP-1 I tried in a shop - not bad for a DSLR in LV mode.
Who knows, in good outdoor light it may even be faster- will check it out tomorrow.

The reversal film option looks like a nice step between the Natural and the Bright settings,so I am going to try that for a while as I was a fan of slide film in the age of Kodachrome ...

Is anyone finding their AF speed with DA* lenses faster in non-LV mode?

Actually, I think the K7 was behind the Kx in this dept. (I have both), and they just leveled things off...

Something for nothing is always well appreciated. a nice upgrade with no fan fare, no 'look at me!!' marketing from Pentax. Subtle, nicely done. I doubt the 'sheepherders' would have done the same.

The rest of the updates/fixes in the K7 Filmware update are great and straightforward. But I'll admit I have no idea what this means

" Added [Reversal Film] mode on Custom Image function [PENTAX Digital Camera Utility 4] have been updated. For update software, Click Here"

Can somebody please help me understand what that means and how it improves something that I appear to be totally in the dark about.

Haven't tried any of it yet but it probably means that in addition to the other custom JPG conversions (B&W, IR, etc) actions for simulating slide film (fujichrome, ecktachrome, etc) have been added.

Downloaded and updated. Thx

I really has the idea that AF is much faster in normal mode. I can't say anything about LV because i almost never use it.

It's all good with this update. Breathes new life into the K-7 and extends it's overall longevity.
