I really has the idea that AF is much faster in normal mode. I can't say anything about LV because i almost never use it.

I swear my 55-300 is being driven about 10-15 % harder in good light.
16-50 has always been fast. Camera just seems to be more decisive with focus.

About Phase AF, I don't know if it's really any faster, but I have the impression it was improved under low-light... I feel I've got way less hunting with my tamron 28-75 (not that the K7 was hunting a lot before, but it usually did one or two AF adjust after the main move).

Now it only either nail the focus right on the first try, or do just one adjustement (I'm talking 6400 iso, f/2.8, 1/20, so that's pretty low-light...).

Any less light (at which time I can barely see what I focus on), and the AF assist lamp kicks in.

Precisely what I've noticed. I used my 50-135 under low light lastnight and it was noticeably more decisive and spent less time hunting.

Edit: It's odd that the version number jumped from 1.03 to 1.10. I bet there are more behind-the-scenes changes that might improve other areas as well. Perhaps I'm overly optimistic.

I would be willing to bet that the change from 1.03 to 1.10 reflects the fact that AF in movie mode is a significant software change. It is not unusual to signify minor changes with one order of magnitude in version number and more significant changes with an order of magnitude higher

You mean in LV mode right?

Hopefully we can still focus in LV using the Af button? As that's what I use in non-LV mode.

Yeah I don't know where he got Velvia from...all I see is Reverse Film with a sharpness setting. It'd be cool to pick the film type!

I think that's wishful thinking and a feature that they definitely would have announced. I never used it much on the 10/20 cameras but I'm still confused by their decision to omit it from the K7.

I wish it had of given 24fps movie mode. But i do agree the camera is faster everywhere, all menu operations are faster and focus motor as well. I'm guessing they have upped the CPU speed. And that likely means slightly less battery life too. But i will gladly take the trade.
