Metering in K-x

After one month using the K-x , i still have difficulties taking good photo with it,
Previousely used Nikon D40, Canon 1000D, 40D .
Especially the "metering " in K-x , it is totally different from Nikon and Canon.
In Nikon, whenever the metering changed in one mode will not effect the others, but, In Pentax K-x , it like this :

The default setting of "metering " in my kx is "Multi segment metering" for all modes : P, M,Av , Tv, Sv, Auto Pict .

Whenever i change the Multi segment to spot metering in "P" mode, the camera's automatically change other modes M, Av , Tv, Sv SCN, metering to " Spot metering ".

It this normal , could you let me know is your camera react the same ?

Maybe some of you user can tell me , it this normal or my K-x having trouble?

Thanks first !

It's normal--it holds the default across all metering modes.

It doesn't make any more sense or less sense than the way you're used to. There are arguments to be made for both ways.

I'm surprised it holds Spot for Auto Pict mode, though. Are you sure about that? That IS kind of weird.

Thanks for your replied,

If i totally understand that your answer to me is " it is normal" ?

What about the "Auto Pict " mode then?

Shoudn't it be independance from others mode?

How your K-x react in this case?

Yes, it's normal. Just like if you manually set your ISO, it will stay at that if you change metering modes.

I don't remember how mine operates with AutoPict since I never use that mode and since I use center weighted 99% of the time anyway. (I don't have a camera in front of me now to check. New one arriving on Wednesday.)

But I think you're correct that it's kind of weird to select spot metering in manual mode, for example, and for it stay on Spot if you switched to Program or AutoPict. You would simply never use Spot with those modes.

Thanks ,
It's okay!

I had the k-x from my last job, but I lost my job and had to return the camera.

So, I liked the camera so much that I'm buying the same one.
