K-x built in flash blew up

I was taking pictures in the relatively dark interior of an air craft carrier museum. With a few pics the flash would flash others it was bright enough to remain off. One picture I looked through the view finder and POP a very loud noise. At first I thought someone banged something, after all I was surrounded by metal. But on looking at the camera I found that when trying to take more dark pictures the flash would not flash. I set it to be always on and I have tested it with many settings. Its dead as far as I can tell.

I bought the K-x in December, what kind of warranty does it carry? With your knowledge would this be covered anyway? I rarely use the flash. I don't like on board flashes on many cameras so I usually don't even use it. But it still is a necessary part of the camera and would like to find out how I can fix it.

If purchased in the U.S., your camera should have at least a one year warranty. Contact Pentax U.S.A. to arrange repair/replacement.

This may be a good time to invest in an inexpensive (less than $40) external flash. Either of the sponsored sellers has ones that bounce and/or swivel, though they are not dedicated to Pentax functions.

I rarely use flash, too, and recently sold my AF540 because of that. I have a cheap bouncer that sits up high enough to clear the hood of the 12-24.
